Flat panel displays

The advance of flat panel displays can be seen everywhere, whether at computer workstations, with TV sets, in mobile phones, PDAs or in navigation systems. Micro and nano structured polymer foils allow us to specifically define the characteristics of displays.

• With LCD displays microstructured plastics sheets or foils are used for illuminating rear or front sides.
• Enhancement foils improve light intensity and yield, contrast or angle of view.
• 3D displays are being developed for applications such as video games, mobile phones, CAD or medical surgery.
• Bistable displays show stable pictures even without a power source. This makes them highly suitable for product displays, smart-cards or electronic books.
• Displays based on polymers, so-called OLEDs, are cheap, fast, light and flexible.
