We work with our customers and within funding projects to develop new nano- and microstructure product ideas to the series production stage.
One interesting field of innovation is bionic structures, in which proven functional surface structures from nature are adopted into technical solutions.
CEO and Founder
Nature offers many solutions for micro- and nanostructured surfaces.
temicon produces nano- and microstructures, such as structures similar to shark skin (riblet structures) that reduce drag on airplanes, ships and windmills. A moth’s eye has nanostructures on its surface that are used for anti-reflective treatment of surfaces.
Another example are the structures on the wings of Morpho butterflies, which ensure homogeneous coloration even from wide viewing angles. We are working with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE on a solution for colored photovoltaic modules whose structure has been modeled on the Morpho butterfly. Such colored photovoltaic modules (Morphocolor®) are of great interest for facade design.
TEMICOAT® is a flexible system concept that is just as suitable for series production as for scaling up from laboratory to production.
In some applications it is sensible to build the roll-to-roll production technology on the customer’s site, such as when it is one step in a complete production line. For logistical reasons, it may make sense to integrate roll imprint production at the customer’s site. Or it is a special system configuration adapted to the product.
In these cases, we also offer our customers tailor-made system and process technology under the brand name TEMICOAT®. For this, we offer a suitable business model for series production at the customer. For many years, our partner Coatema Coating Machinery GmbH has done system construction for us. TEMICOAT® stands for turnkey roll imprint solutions. It includes the system technology, processes, materials and tools.
