Microlens arrays (MLA)

Various spherical lenses are arranged with a wide parameter field made up of the lens radius, lens height and lens raster into an array. Of course, microlens arrays are also possible without intermediate gaps.

temicon produces spherical or aspherical lens geometries in series, for example for 3D sensor technology or automated face or component recognition based on the structured light principle.

Microlenses in series production

As a series producer, temicon supplies microlenses for use an extremely wide range of applications. Examples include decoupling structures in light guide plates for light collection in solar modules, optical imaging or creation of 3D effects.

For 3D sensors, MLA-based lightprojectors are used to create light patterns on objects. Typical applications include face or component recognition. temicon offers MLA-based light projectors in a wide range of lens geometries and chip designs, with which existing sensors can also be retrofitted.

temicon microlens arrays are made using a combination of lithographic processes and reflow processes, making a very wide variety of spherical lenses possible. Replication can be done by UV imprinting on wafer level, glass or polymer substrate. This technology enables cost efficient high volume production. Likewise, microlens arrays can be produced by injection molding with high optical quality.

temicon’s unique technology allows manufacturing of microlens arrays without intermediate gaps. This means the lens arrangement can be linear, right-angled, square or hexagonal. Any stochastically distributed microlens arrangement is also possible.
