Nozzle plates with multitudes of high-precision holes are used e.g. for the nebulization of liquids. temicon is producer of such nozzles which enable the creation of aerosols with defined drop sizes in the micrometer range. The high precision of the components results in very small tolerances of the aerosol drops. In order to cover the pressure, which is built-up during the nebulizer process, the thickness of the nozzle plate should be about 10 times larger than the micro-hole diameter. In some cases a two-step profile can be used for improved stabilization.
